Its aim is to gather and preserve genealogical material and to educate members regarding the correct way to conduct research. Meetings are held on the second Sunday of each month in the Alexandria Historical and Genealogical Library and begin at 2.30 pm. They also provide access to the 1870 Population Schedule for the Parish of Rapides. A quarterly publication is published by the society in January, April, July and October. It is possible to download a Membership Application form and the First Family Cover Letter and Application. These are both available in PDF Format and in Word Format. Its aim is to preserve and collect genealogical material by encouraging interest in genealogy. They publish Kinfolks, their quarterly publication, and an Index to Table of Contents covering 2008-2010 is available on the site. Its aims are to promote interest in genealogy, to show people where genealogical records are available, to tell people about the importance of preserving records of a genealogical nature and to preserve and publish genealogical records of interest to those studying genealogy. An extensive collection of resources is currently accessible at Elaine P. Nunez Community College in Chalmette and in the future will be at Nunez Community College Library located at 3710 Paris Rd, Chalmette. They publish L'Heritage, their newsletter, but unfortunately all back issues were destroyed in the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.
