The society was established in 1990 to cater for the needs of anyone interested in family history and genealogy who lived in the old Central Region.

This area covers the old counties of Clackmannanshire, Stirlingshire and West Perthshire, including Bo’ness and Carriden in West Lothian.

Although the Society is especially interested in people whose ancestors came from these areas, it also welcomes as members those people who have ancestry in other parts of Scotland and further afield.

The Society’s aims are to further the knowledge of members of the Society, and to offer guidance to people starting their own family history research journeys.
