Cumberland Family History Society
Cumberland Family History Society was founded in 1976 and aims to help people who have an interest in researching their genealogy. They cover the current county of Cumbria, which is all of the pre-1974 counties of Cumberland and Westmorland.
The association also covers parts of Lancashire that are north of Morecambe Bay (North Lonsdale) and the West Riding parish of Sedbergh.

Society Forum
A forum is accessible, this providing notices about the Society, transcriptions from the Carlisle Journal and Carlisle Patriot and Memorial Inscriptions, which is a project aiming to transcribe all the gravestones in Cumbria. A surname list from Roland Grigg is also available.

A newsletter is published by the Society in February, May, August and November which is available as an electronic download or printed version. An example is shown on their site, but the current newsletters are available to members only.
