This section lists county associations of Northamptonshire providing details about each one and what resources and publications they offer.
Northamptonshire Family History Society
Founded in 1976, and currently having approximately 650 members both in the UK and overseas, the association aims to advance and promote the study of genealogy, specifically in the county of Northamptonshire.
They also help to transcribe and index memorial inscriptions, original documents and other material. It also collaborates with bodies and organisations who have custody of records.

Society Databases
The Society is currently compiling a Personal Name Database from entries in hospital record books, militia lists, parish registers, poor law records, quarter sessions, and other miscellaneous documents. This database can be searched on the site.
Society Baptism, Marriage and Burial Indexes
A marriage index is also being compiled by the Society from marriage registers 1754-1837. Entries contain full transcriptions of the information contained in the register, such as witnesses and whether the marriage was by licence or banns. Names in this index are included in the Personal Names Database.
Burial and baptism indexes are also being compiled by the Society, covering the period 1813-1837.

Society Branches
The Society also has a branch in Kettering, meetings being held at The Cornmarket Hall, 42 London Road, Kettering, NN15 7QA.
Society Projects
The Society is currently transcribing memorial inscriptions in Northamptonshire parishes. Memorial Inscription Booklets can be purchased through their website.
Society Research Service
On payment of a fee, the Society is willing to search in their databases of baptisms, marriages and burials, and in their personal names database (PND), which is the main index to those mentioned above. The names database currently has approximately 1,350,000 names, but is constantly being updated.
